CheckoutADate.com was started in late 2008 by its founder, Sandy Heart, who discovered that there were no resources on the web that specifically did background checks for single adults. She was amazed that this information was so difficult to search for. She felt compelled to establish this web resource dedicated to providing fast, accurate, and trustworthy documentation of your potential dates’ or current love interests’ background.

As a newly divorced woman who had relocated to a new state, Sandy joined Singles groups and the well known, but anonymous, internet dating services. While it was easy finding potential dates with similar interests, she found that very little personal information was available about the character or background of the dates themselves. She found the basics – hobbies and interests, but nothing that shed any light on their moral character. After some rather scary online and in-person encounters, Sandy started asking friends, both male and female, if they had similar experiences – they had!

Most of us no longer live in the communities where we grew up; the places where people with less than ideal qualities were known about through the community grapevine. We judge the character of our dates by first impressions: how fast our heart starts beating or pulses races, and intuition. Most of our dates turn out to be terrific people, but some are not; those people are the ones you need to protect yourself from.

Although we are in the 21st century, a century where information is captured in computer databases everywhere, not everyone can easily access the personal information that will confirm that their dates are really the great people they claim to be.
